Patrick Bevin has fallen heartbreakingly short of becoming the first New Zealand male to claim a medal at the Cycling World Championships.
A superb ride has only been enough for Bevin to finish fourth in the elite men's time trial in Yorkshire this morning just 2.16 seconds behind Italy's Filippo Ganna, who claimed the bronze medal.
The race was won in overwhelming fashion by Australian Rohan Dennis, who defended his title, winning by more than a minute despite having not taken part in a race since quitting the Tour de France in controversial fashion.
