HOKITIKA RIVER SEARCH FOR GIRL

Writer's picture: Bella PentecostBella Pentecost

Search and rescue teams are searching for a 9-year-old girl who has swept away near the Hokitika River mouth on the West Coast while White baiting.

Police have recently said that search efforts from the air, on the water and on the shoreline were taking place for the child.

An elderly man was pulled from the water but the girl still remains missing.

The Police Search and Rescue team, Coastguard authorities, Land Search and Rescue, Maritime New Zealand and a rescue helicopter have all been called in to help in the search.

The search is still taking place and she should be found soon.
